Slow flow is an integral part of a well balanced power yoga practice. The pace of a power yoga practice series can vary, and I love a practice that includes both fast and slow paced vinyasa. By working through a slow flow power vinyasa, we can gain some benefits that don’t come as easy in a fast paced vinyasa, and still get quite a workout. Without chaotic rapid movement we are far less likely to injure ourselves. When we move slowly from one place to another, we benefit not only from the poses, but from the transition. We build more muscle throughout the range of motion, as well as at the poses. And, as we grow and find ourselves through our poses, we remember those sweet spots, and those tiny variations we found while hanging out in that pose. And the next time we find ourselves in that pose during a fast paced flow, we remember, and we come back to the simple best version of the pose, and of ourselves.
