The prenatal yoga practice strives to give expectant mothers the inner mediation, conscious courage, and a steady calm to face their unique labor experience. It is not only about connecting with your own body and mind, but your future child as well. We recognize that each body is different and encourage a slow, relaxing practice.
You and your expectant child are in the best hands at Ha Yoga. Our prenatal yoga classes are taught by Nikki Brewer, who has assisted over 45 hospital and home births. She has been practicing yoga for the last 5 years and encourages students to practice at their own pace and mediation for an overall healthy, stress-free yoga class.
Some of the prenatal yoga techniques covered in our classes include:
Increase oxygen intake for clarity
Support relaxation, meditation, and connection
Talk With Your Doctor Before Attending Prenatal Yoga
Because every pregnancy is different, we encourage you to speak with your doctor before attending our prenatal classes. If your doctor approves, we encourage you to stay hydrated throughout class, rest when YOU think you need to, no complicated poses, and to immediately stop if you experience pain.
We work to achieve a soothing and relaxing mindset for your body and like to remind students that yoga is not a competition, but a peaceful practice.
Nikki Brewer leads the prenatal classes and has attended and assisted over 70 births, both in the hospital and home births. She has also lead prenatal yoga events across the country. Prenatal classes are designed to invite all the aspects and benefits of yoga into the blessing of pregnancy. Prenatal classes focus on preparing the body for childbirth both physically and emotionally. More than that, prenatal yoga provides a comfortable place to learn and grow with other pregnant women.
